Research Interests:
I am interested in the interactions between the physical climate system and biogeochemistry, especially through the marine nitrogen and carbon cycles. I have recently investigated the dominant sources and sinks of marine fixed N in the ocean, and the potential for climate forcing and feedbacks within the marine N budget to change the ocean N reservoir across glacial/interglacial transitions. I am currently working to explain the origin of observed oxygen changes in thermocline waters of the North Pacific, and their implications for oceanic carbon uptake.
